Homecraft Woodworking

Entries will be received in the arena on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with the exception of Art and Photography, which will ONLY be received Thursday evening. No entries will be accepted after 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Judging will commence on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. for Photography and promptly at 12:30 p.m. on Friday for all other classes.

Exhibitors must show their membership card when dropping off and picking up exhibits. Entries MUST remain in the arena until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and MUST be picked up by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Ilderton Agricultural Society’s Directors (IAS) and Volunteers are NOT responsible for exhibits left after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The seven dollar ($7.00) IAS membership fee entitles the bearer to one admission ticket and the right to enter exhibits. NO ENTRY FEE or IAS MEMBERSHIP is required for Junior members (18 years of age and under) entering Junior Sections. However, if a Junior is entering an Adult/Open Section, then a membership is required and those entries MUST be on Adult/Open Entry Form.

Exhibitors are entitled to ONE entry per listed section. At the Chairperson’s discretion, sections with a large number of entries may be divided. Articles in each section must be grown/completed by exhibitor since the 2018 Ilderton Fair.

Judges and committees have full power to place articles in their proper classes.
NOTE: Please cover name on any signed entries.
2020 IAS Membership will be deducted from all prize winnings of $9.00 or more.

All ADULT and JUNIOR HOMECRAFT and 4-H LIFESKILLS class winners MUST pick up their prize
winnings at the Fair Office in the arena between 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

All entries must be made of wood. Other materials may be used for legs, feet, fins etc. only if required for structural support and must be handmade by the artist. The use of real sand, rocks and driftwood is strongly discouraged. Open Class may not use these items. Entries qualify for natural finish categories when the wood grain is visible. Entries do not qualify for natural finish categories when any part is painted.

JUDGING

Judging is made on the basis of how well the judge feels that an exhibit meets the requirements of the class, section and workmanship standards, including creativity and design.

LOSS AND DAMAGE

While we try to take every reasonable precaution to ensure safety of articles sent to the show, it must be understood that the owners of exhibits are required to assume all risks to their property. Should any articles be accidentally damaged, lost or stolen, Ilderton Agricultural Society will render all assistance in the power of recovery of same, but will not recognize any claim for payment of the value of any portion of the exhibit whatsoever.

When the woodworking area in the Arena is supervised, children ages 4 to 12 are invited to come BUILD A BIRD HOUSE. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be supplied. Bring the bird house back decorated for the next Ilderton Fair. They will be judged then for best decorated bird house. On Saturday, October 3rd only, children, ages 4 to 12, are invited to come BUILD A BIRD HOUSE at the Woodworking display in the Arena from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Children under must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be supplied. Bring the bird house back decorated for the 2016 Ilderton Fair. They will be judged then for best decorated birdhouse.
